Following a stellar rookie season, Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has been named to his first NFL Top 100 list.
LaPorta was included in the latest group revealed Tuesday and ranked at No. 80 by his peers.
He’s the first Lion to appear on the list so far, although several others are expected as the countdown toward the top of the list continues in the coming days. The top 10 are scheduled to be unveiled on Aug. 2.
The former second-round pick played every game last season, racking up 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns, which ranked him fifth among all tight ends in yards, fourth in receptions and first in touchdowns.
Clearly, his opponents took notice, already voting him among the best in the game.
He’ll continue to be a huge part of the Lions’ offense in 2024, and it’ll be exciting to see what he’s able to do for an encore.
