But when the two teams square off Nov. 3, the Packers’ defense won’t have to contend with the Lions’ top deep threat.
Third-year pro Jameson Williams has been suspended two games by the NFL for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances.
Williams will also miss the Lions’ game Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
This is the second consecutive season Williams has been suspended by the league. Williams was suspended four games last year for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, forcing him to miss the Lions’ Week 4 game against the Packers.
Williams has provided explosiveness to the Lions offense in 2024. His 21.2 yards per reception are second in the NFL. Williams has three catches over 50 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown reception in the Lions’ 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 30.
Entering the Lions’ game Sunday, Williams is second on the team with 361 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
Though the Lions will be without Williams, their cupboard isn’t bare. Amon-Ra St. Brown, who leads the team in receiving yards (401), receptions (39) and touchdowns (four), is one of the game’s best.
The Lions, who won the NFC North for the first time in 30 years in 2023, have one of the best offenses in the NFL. They’re ranked second in total yards, third in scoring and third in passing yards.
The Packers and Lions split their two games last year, with both teams winning on the road.
