Former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Connor Williams to retire

Posted on November 16, 2024 by admin
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (1) talks with Dolphins guard Connor Williams (58) during pregame warmups before the start of an NFL football game against New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023 in Foxborough, MA.

Former Miami Dolphins center Connor Williams has retired, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Williams played the 2022 and 2023 season with the Dolphins before signing a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks this past offseason. The 27-year-old had started all nine games for the Seahawks prior to coach Mike Macdonald’s announcement that Williams had retired.

“Personal reasons,” Macdonald said Friday of why Williams decided to hang it up. “Wish him the best and we got to move forward.”

When asked if there’s a chance Williams changes his mind, Macdonald doubled down.

“I don’t believe so,” Macdonald added. “We’re going to honor his wishes and keep all those reasons and conversations private for obvious reasons.”

The Dallas Cowboys selected Williams in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent the first four years in Dallas before signing a two-year deal with the Dolphins in 2022.

Williams has dealt with leg injuries for most of his career. A knee injury limited his junior season at Texas to just five games. He’s also torn his ACL twice in the NFL, once in 2019 and again in 2023.
