Now, the possibility of another transformative step—a new ECU designed for hybrid powertrains by 2026—is gaining momentum.
Such a move could potentially entice manufacturers like Honda and Hyundai to join the sport, aligning NASCAR with Formula 1 and IndyCar, both of which have embraced hybrid technology. However, this leap could challenge teams as they transition from their beloved naturally aspirated V8 engines.
