One player that will be fired up for Sunday’s Vancouver Canucks versus Nashville Predators matchup is Kiefer Sherwood. The Canucks right winger will be playing against his former team for the first time since signing a two-year contract with Vancouver during the offseason. Based on his comments, it is safe to say that Sherwood is ready to show Nashville they made a mistake by not re-signing him this offseason.
After the Canucks win over the Chicago Blackhawks, Sherwood was asked about playing his former team for the first time. The NHL hit leader said, “Once that puck drops, it’s business. Obviously, I’m very grateful for them. I wouldn’t be here without them. But, you know, I think it’s a business on all fronts. I’m happy to be here, but it’s going to be fun to show what they missed, I guess, or whatever. But definitely added more fuel to the fire this summer, and now it’s time to go all out.”
Before signing with Vancouver, Sherwood played 100 games with the Predators from 2022-24. Over those 100 games, he scored 17 goals, recorded 40 points and threw 337 hits. He was also a massive pain to play against during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, throwing 33 hits in six games against the Canucks. In fact, his performance against Vancouver in the playoffs was one of the reasons why the Canucks pursued him and gave him a multi-year contract this past offseason.
