The New York Jets’ 32-26 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins confirmed what we already knew—that the Jets weren’t a playoff team in 2024.
With the loss, that drops New York to 3-10 on the year, Jeff Ulbrich’s team have officially been eliminated from playoff contention and for a roster that was deemed to be a sneaky Super Bowl contender, that’s a brutal pill to swallow.
But now comes the hard part.
Still, with four games left and nothing to play for, it can be hard for players to find the motivation to finish the season off in a positive manner. Some may even have one eye on a vacation at season’s end.
But for Davante Adams, he’s just keeping his head down and is continuing to work.
“It’s just one of those years, it’s just weird, and it sucks, but you got to stay locked in and keep the main thing the main thing,” Adams said. “Typically, you work as hard as we do [that’s] supposed to lead to wins, and it can be demoralizing a little bit, but just keep going regardless of the circumstance, regardless of the record, and we playing for our pride at this point, we just got to keep going.”
It has been the season from hell for New York, and being out of playoff contention with a month of football left is rubbing salt into the wounds, but the Jets simply haven’t been consistent enough to warrant a playoff spot.
