Leicester City eye Liverpool loan as Steve Cooper set to complete transfer this week.

Steve Cooper will look to retain Leicester City’s Premier League status at the first attempt this season.

He took the reins at the King Power after Enzo Maresca – who led the Foxes to promotion – was prised to Stamford Bridge by Chelsea earlier this summer.

City have already been active in the transfer window as they have welcomed Abdul Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, Michael Golding, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid but are likely to continue to strengthen their squad ahead of their first season back in the Premier League since being relegated in 2022.

Ben Doak

Reports suggest the Foxes are keen on Liverpool winger Ben Doak. Southampton are also thought to be keen on the youngster as a loan deal looks the most viable option with the Foxes looking to improve squad depth in attacking areas. Doak struggled with injury last season but is undoubtedly a hot prospect who could benefit from a short period away from Anfield to gain experience in first-team football – he featured just five times for Jurgen Klopp last season.

Tom Cannon

Cannon has been linked with a potential move away but this is dependent on other transfer happenings. The Republic of Ireland international has attracted interest from several clubs – including Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, and Sheffield United – with regards to a potential loan move. However, according to Leicestershire Live , a deal would be unlikely to happen if the Foxes did not recruit another striker in the transfer window – Jamie Vardy picked up an injury in pre-season leaving Cannon and Patson Daka as the only two striker options at Cooper’s disposal.

Jordan Ayew

The Foxes have been linked with a surprise move for Crystal Palace man Jordan Ayew. The 32-year-old can play as a striker or on the flanks – this versatility would be welcomed by Cooper who could rely on Ayew’s Premier League pedigree throughout the season. The Ghanian has made 274 appearances across his Premier League career and does not look like slowing down having played over 30 games in each of the last five seasons. City are keen on several attacking options and Ayew could be available for a cut price as new Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner looks set to revamp the Eagles’ squad.
