The Royal family has departed the Church of St Mary Magdalene, in Sandringham, to undertake their traditional walkabout.
They greeted the gathered well-wishers, numbering over one thousand, who travelled to the King’s estate to meet them on Christmas Day.
It comes after the family attended a private service for Christmas Mass at 11am this morning for just under an hour.
The monarch’s annual address to the nation will be broadcast in its traditional 3pm slot after he filmed it from a former hospital chapel, marking the first time in 18 years that it has not been filmed at a royal residence.
It comes after an extraordinary year that involved cancer diagnoses for both him and his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, and will focus in particular on the incredible work of the healthcare profession.
