The Parramatta Eels have been rocked with reports playmaker Dylan Brown is considering his options with NRL rivals as the club also deals with Mitchell Moses’ contract dilemma. Brown was a consistent performer for the Eels in a horror 2024 season having filled in at halfback when Mitchell Moses was out injured.
The five-eighth has up until round 10 of the 2025 NRL season to trigger his player option to stay at the club. Brown is on around $900,000 at the Eels and was expected to stay on.
While the Eels are hoping Brown continues from 2026 through to 2031, reports suggest he will determine his value on the open market before he makes a decision on a long-term contract. The Sydney Morning Herald has reported his manager has reached out to rival clubs in an email regarding their interest in the 24-year-old’s talent.
Not only has his manager reached out to rival NRL clubs, but they are even tempting rugby union franchises. “Please revert back to Gavin and I on email to register your clubs interest in securing the services of Dylan Brown for season 2026 and beyond,” said the email sent by manager Chris Orr, according to the publication.
“Once we finalise the level of interest, we will work with you to set up an appropriate time to catch up with Dylan. These type of “Franchise Players” dont [sic] come on the market very often.”
This comes as a sudden setback for the Eels with new coach Jason Ryles currently reshaping Parramatta’s roster. Former captain Clint Gutherson was allowed to join the Dragons after talks with Arthur, while veteran forward Reagan Campbell-Gillard also left after being released from the final year of his contract.
