The Ohio State Buckeyes will be playing in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday evening, and they have had an impressive last several weeks.
The Buckeyes had arguably the most difficult path of any team in the final 12, beating the Tennessee Volunteers, the Oregon Ducks, and the Texas Longhorns.
Ohio State will be facing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and there’s one conversation that’s been at the forefront of storylines. That conversation has been regarding how much Ohio State spent to bring in high-profile talent.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, an SEC analyst, sounded off on who he is pulling for.
“I love Notre Dame’s story because they’re not playing for the national championship with Ole Miss‘ running back and Alabama‘s defensive back. I mean, they (Notre Dame) have developed players. They’ve gone out and brought in players from Duke and other schools, just like Indiana did, but ultimately they found a way and they beat some good programs along the way,” Finebaum said via “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning”.
One other prominent ESPN analyst, Kirk Herbstreit, has said almost the exact opposite before, speaking on how the Buckeyes have many home-grown talents on the roster.
Regardless, Ohio State will get to compete for a national championship Monday which could justify that lofty amount it used to bring in some of the best transfers in the country.
