The NFL playoffs are typically full of surprises and this year is no exception. While the Philadelphia Eagles are hard at work preparing for an NFC Championship showdown with the Washington Commanders, they could still have a trick up their sleeve.

Washington has a talented offense led by rookie sensation Jayden Daniels, so the Eagles’ defense needs to be at its best. Longtime star DE Brandon Graham tore his triceps earlier this year and could be retiring at the end of the season, but a theoretical return could give Philadelphia the final edge they need to hoist a Lombardi Trophy.

It’s long been assumed that Graham would be done for the year, yet recent comments suggest he could be trying to return should the Eagles make it to the Super Bowl.

Eagles DE Brandon Graham Hints at Possible Super Bowl Return

When asked by John Clark of NBCS whether he could return for the Super Bowl, Graham slyly said, “we’ll see.”

The legendary Eagle has spent his entire 15-year career in Philadelphia, winning one championship while making an All-Pro and Pro Bowl team. He’s become synonymous with this era of Eagles football as a consistent force off the edge who represents the mentality of the city. It’s hard to overstate the impact he could have on the defense by coming back, even if it’s more of a mental boost than on-field one.

In 11 games this year, Graham compiled 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks with a pair of deflected passes and a forced fumble. Philadelphia’s defensive line is already among the leagues best thanks to stellar play from guys like Jalen Carter, yet Graham is still a veteran leader who could raise both the ceiling and floor of the group.

It feels unlikely that Graham would be able to get on the field or make a consistent impact. That he’s considering it reflects positively on his work ethic though, and perhaps he’s able to pull off the miracle.

Of course, the Eagles have to win this week first. They’re currently 6.5-point favorites over the Commanders with the best odds to win the Super Bowl (+175) at FanDuel Sportsbook. Should Graham return, those odds might prove to be a steal.
