Wrexham AFC confirm signing of defender Dan Scarr from Plymouth Argyle
WREXHAM AFC have confirmed the signing of defender Dan Scarr from Plymouth Argyle.
The centre-back joins the Reds for an undisclosed fee and has signed a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season.
The 29-year-old was a promotion winner with Argyle in 2023 and is a former Birmingham City and Walsall defender.
Scarr made 31 appearances in all competitions for EFL Championship side Argyle last season.
On signing for Wrexham, he said: “It’s probably one of the most talked about clubs outside of the Premier League. It’s a really exciting project that I’m looking forward to getting stuck into.”

Scarr added: “It’s a unique club for this day and age, but the main thing that drew me in was that I want to get another promotion, and be a part of history.
“I’ve had good experiences that put me in good stead to go and help the team and help the players around me. I got promoted out of League One with Plymouth, and those sort of experiences I hope will help me have a good season here too.”
Scarr started his career in non-league football, with Worcester City, Causeway United, Redditch United and Stourbridge. After reaching the FA Cup Third Round with the latter in 2017, he signed for Birmingham and spent time out on loan with Wycombe Wanderers too.
His breakthrough came at Walsall, however, where he went on to make nearly 100 appearances for the Saddlers between 2019 and 2021.
He then moved to Plymouth in 2021, winning promotion alongside new Wrexham team-mate Callum Burton in 2023, before helping the club stay in the EFL Championship last season.
On signing Scarr, manager Phil Parkinson said: “I’m pleased to welcome Dan to the club. He’s been a key figure in Plymouth Argyle’s recent success, and we’re looking forward to working with him over the coming season.”
The signing of Scarr follows on from what has been a busy transfer window for Wrexham so far this summer as they prepare for life in EFL League One in 2024/25.
The Reds have also welcomed Arthur Okonkwo (Arsenal), Callum Burton (Plymouth), George Dobson (Charlton Athletic), Sebastian Revan (Aston Villa) and Lewis Brunt (Leicester City) to the STok Cae Ras in recent weeks.
