Otega Oweh’s incredible scoring streak finally comes to an end

Kentucky Wildcats guard Otega Oweh had been one of the most consistent scorers in college basketball this season, reaching double figures in 26 straight games.

However, that impressive streak came to an end in No. 17 Kentucky’s 96-83 loss to the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Oweh struggled offensively, finishing with just two points on 1/9 shooting. It was an uncharacteristic performance from the junior, who had been a key scoring option for the Wildcats all season.

Despite his tough night on offense, Oweh still contributed in other areas, grabbing six rebounds, dishing out two assists, and recording two steals. He finished with a +/- of -2 in 22 minutes of action.

His scoring slump came at an unfortunate time for Kentucky, as they needed his usual production due to the team being without Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson, and Kerr Kriisa plus to keep pace with Alabama’s high-powered offense. The Wildcats led by 12 points in the first half but saw their advantage disappear as Alabama went on a 29-10 run to take control.

While Oweh’s streak is over, Kentucky will look for him to bounce back quickly as they continue SEC play. His ability to attack the rim, play strong defense, and contribute in multiple ways remains crucial for the Wildcats as they aim to get back on track after the loss.
