Former NFL star Steve Smith Sr. has found himself at the center of a controversy after being accused of having an affair with a married Baltimore Ravens employee. The allegations surfaced when Tony Martinez, the husband of Nicole Martinez, publicly accused Smith Sr. on social media. Martinez shared screenshots of alleged text messages and a recorded phone conversation in which he directly confronted the former wide receiver.
During the call, Martinez accused Smith Sr. of sleeping with his wife. A voice resembling Smith Sr.’s can be heard apologizing before falling silent as Martinez continued his criticism. Martinez further claimed to have substantial evidence of the affair and hinted that it could lead to consequences for both his wife and Smith Sr. due to potential violations of the Ravens’ fraternization policy.
In addition to posting on his own account, Martinez seemingly took control of his wife’s Facebook account to make further accusations. The situation has quickly gained attention, with many awaiting an official response from Smith Sr. or the Baltimore Ravens.
Smith Sr. is widely regarded as one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history. He spent his career with the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens, earning multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections. Recently, he was named a first-time finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Beyond his football legacy, Smith Sr. has been known for his work as an analyst and for his family life with his wife, Angie, and their four children. The allegations now cast a shadow over his reputation.
