Browns Make a Massive Splash: Sign 10 Time Pro Bowl QB to Replace Deshaun Watson

Posted on March 16, 2025 by admin

It appears that rumors have been circulating regarding the Cleveland Browns making a significant move by signing a 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback to replace Deshaun Watson. However, as of now, there is no confirmed report supporting this claim. Instead, recent developments indicate that the Browns have been making strategic moves at the quarterback position, but not on the scale of acquiring a legendary 10-time Pro Bowler.

Current Situation with the Browns’ Quarterback Position

Deshaun Watson, who signed a fully guaranteed $230 million contract with the Browns in 2022, has struggled with injuries and inconsistent play during his tenure in Cleveland. After missing a significant portion of the 2023 season due to a shoulder injury, the Browns were forced to adjust at quarterback, leading them to sign veteran Joe Flacco to step in as a short-term solution. Flacco performed admirably and even led the team to a playoff berth, but he was not expected to be the long-term answer at the position.

More recently, reports have emerged that the Browns traded for quarterback Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles. Pickett, a former first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was dealt to the Eagles earlier in the 2025 offseason but has now been sent to Cleveland in exchange for quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a fifth-round draft pick. While Pickett has shown flashes of potential, he is far from the caliber of a 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback.

Who Could the 10-Time Pro Bowler Be?

If the rumor of a 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback joining the Browns were true, the most likely candidates would be a select few legendary quarterbacks still active in the NFL. The list of quarterbacks who fit this description is extremely short. Players like Tom Brady (who retired), Aaron Rodgers, and Russell Wilson are some of the few who have reached or come close to 10 Pro Bowl selections.

Aaron Rodgers, the four-time MVP and 10-time Pro Bowler, could theoretically be in play if the New York Jets decided to move on from him. However, Rodgers remains committed to playing for the Jets in 2025 after suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in 2023.

Russell Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler, was recently released by the Denver Broncos and subsequently signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While he could potentially make an impact in Cleveland, he is not a 10-time Pro Bowler.

Tom Brady, who has 15 Pro Bowl selections, has been retired since early 2023 and has repeatedly stated that he is not planning a comeback.

Final Thoughts

At this time, the claim that the Browns have signed a 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback remains unverified and likely a fabrication. While the team has been active in making moves to shore up their quarterback situation, including acquiring Kenny Pickett, there is no credible evidence suggesting that a legendary quarterback is on his way to Cleveland. Unless new reports emerge confirming such a blockbuster signing, Browns fans should temper expectations and focus on the team’s actual moves.
