Sounds like NBC’s Morgan Pressel got a little too excited over this Brooke Henderson shot on Friday at the Women’s Olympic Golf Competition.
And by too excited, we mean Pressel seemingly dropped a hard F-bomb on live television, and it didn’t appear to be an accident. There was no quick apology. This was not on a “hot mic.” And, for the life of me, I can’t seem to come up with anything she “could have been” saying here. It genuinely sounds like Pressel says that Henderson was “f—in’ fired up” after this approach shot into a par 5.
Listen for yourself:
We want to give Pressel the benefit of the doubt here and say that she may have been saying something else, but again, we’ve come up empty on what that something else could have been. The best part is how she just kept it moving right after. She’s “f—ing fired up, you love to see it.” Yeah, I guess we do.
On Saturday’s Golf Channel broadcast of the final Olympic round, Pressel was speaking on-air to anchor Steve Sands and said, “I just want to take a moment to acknowledge something that I said yesterday during the broadcast. I stumbled over my words and unfortunately it sounded as if I said something inappropriate and I am so sorry that it came across as such because I would never say that on the air in a broadcast.”
