Sheffield United vs Wrexham prediction

These two sides last met in the FA Cup last season in January 2023 with the replay after a brilliant 3-3 draw kicking off in February, where the Blades won 3-1.

Prior to that they last met in 2004 and overall, United have won five of the 12 games these two have seen out since 1979.

All of their last eight matches have all been in cup matches, with the Blades unbeaten in the last five meetings.

However, Wrexham put in a huge display against the then Premier League side being three leagues higher in the FA Cup 4th round.

Sheffield United put themselves ahead in the first two minutes, before Wrexham came back to lead 2-1 after 61 minutes thanks to a goal from James Jones and Thomas O’Connor.

Ollie Norwood put the top-flight side level four minutes later but the Blades were under pressure further when Daneil Jebbison was sent off.

In Wrexham-style Paul Mullin looked like he’d got the winner for the then League Two side with just a few more minutes left.

But John Egan somehow got to the ball first in the 95th minute to spare the Blades’ embarrassment and force a replay.

Tempers were high in that game with Wrexham undeservedly losing the tie overall and were subject to exuberant celebrations from the Premier League side emphatic that they managed a draw against a lower league side.

Sheffield United vs Wrexham betting tips

  • Wrexham to win – 3/1

There’s likely to be more heated exchanges with these two sides back in action against each other.

And with Sheffield United relegated from the Premier League and Wrexham promoted from League Two, these two sides meet with just one division separating them.

Sheffield have seen four players leave for a fee this season with another seven leave on a free transfer, including centre-forward Oli McBurnie.

The Blades only just won at home in the replay scoring two stoppage time goals to secure the win.

Wrexham might be fired up for this to gain the win with the momentum in their favour, having put in a great shift on their last visit to Bramall Lane.
