West Ham United are again looking at Sergio Reguilon as a potential replacement for outgoing defender Emerson, according to recent transfer rumours

Italian full-back Emerson, a regular for West Ham since joining in 2022, appears set to leave the club. Both Inter Milan and Roma are reportedly interested in bringing him back to Serie A. Whilst West Ham have no intention of selling Emerson, club bosses are believed to have contingency plans in place.

While Aaron Cresswell can provide cover, his age (34) and limited playing time last season (11 Premier League appearances) highlight the need for a younger option.
Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon, with experience in the Premier League from his time at Tottenham Hotspur, has emerged as a target for West Ham

Reguilon boasts a respectable Premier League record, having played 77 games during his spell with Tottenham. However, it must be stressed that despite mounting speculation, left back has never been mentioned as a position which needed strengthening when club sources have spoken to Claret & Hugh.

Despite a disappointing loan spell at Manchester United, Reguilon found his form on loan at Brentford last season. He impressed with four assists in just 16 appearances.

While Reguilon’s English career has been inconsistent, his recent performances suggest he can still be a valuable player. Plus the addition of Reguilon could provide a fresh attacking threat and bolster Julen Lopetegui‘s squad.
