West Ham open to selling ‘exceptionally good’ £20m star before August 30th deadline

West Ham United are clearly now at a stage of the transfer window where moving on players is more of a priority than bringing more new faces in.

The summer transfer window has been a magnificent one so far for West Ham, with Julen Lopetegui having brought eight fantastic players to the London Stadium.

The Hammers head coach is now said to be prioritising shifting some of the deadwood before the transfer window slams shut.

However, it seems as though it’s not just the deadwood that Lopetegui is prepared to move on this summer.

That said, the Spaniard has admitted that he wants to make more new signings as well, so we should still have a very exciting final 10 days of the transfer window ahead of us.

So what’s up next for West Ham? A potentially big sale it seems…

West Ham open to selling Konstantinos Mavropanos

According to a report from The Times, the Hammers could be prepared to cash in on Konstantinos Mavropanos this summer.

However, if Lopetegui was to let the Greece international go, he would definitely have to sign another centre-back.

The West Ham manager cannot afford to have Kurt Zouma or Nayef Aguerd serving as backups for Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman this season.

It’s no secret that Konstantinos Mavropanos is someone who Lopetegui views as dispensable this summer.

The 26-year-old is a very strong centre-back on his day, but he’s also liable to making the odd mistake here and there.

So would it be wise to move him on or keep him?

He joined West Ham from Stuttgart last summer for around £20 million (Evening Standard), and has been incredibly inconsistent for us ever since then.

For every strong performance, there has been a really poor one from ‘Dinos’.

The centre-back was at fault for numerous goals we conceded last season – notably during our clashes with Crystal Palace and Brentford, when he cost us points with appalling errors.

However, he does possess real talent, and has been described as an ‘exceptionally good’ player by The Athletic.

If Konstantinos Mavropanos fine tunes his game, helped by some good coaching from Julen Lopetegui and his staff, he could still be a really important player for West Ham.

Given our heavy spending this summer though, it would not surprise me at all if he’s sold, should a decent offer come in for his services.
