Double incoming deal, Lo Celso agreement – Tottenham best and worst case transfer scenarios

Giovani Lo Celso could potentially return to Real Betis before the transfer deadline

Transfer deadline day is finally here! Tottenham fans will be keeping a very close eye on today’s events with the club having until 11pm this evening to finalise any remaining transfer business.

Not only that, the Lilywhites will discover their Europa League league phase opponents when the draw is made at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco at midday. There’s even more Tottenham-related business on the agenda as Ange Postecoglou is due to speak to the media at 1pm to preview this weekend’s game against Newcastle United and no doubt also answer a few questions on the transfer front, too.

In regards to potential transfer business taking place in N17 over the course of the day, what exactly are the best and worst case scenarios facing Tottenham ahead of the transfer deadline? football.london takes a look below.

Best case

Tottenham fans would love nothing more than to see another transfer incoming before the day is out. Looking well stocked in a number of positions, Spurs do look a tad light when it comes to centre-back.

Postecoglou currently has Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin as his options at the heart of defence, with left-back Ben Davies also able to play there if required. An injury or suspension for one of the quartet and Tottenham are rather short in that area of the pitch.

Given the need to also bring in a Destiny Udogie alternative at left-back, if Spurs can sign a left-sided defender who can play at centre-back and left-back, just like Van de Ven can do, then it would be a very good piece of business for the football club. Another goalkeeper with similar attributes to Guglielmo Vicario would also suffice ahead of the 11pm deadline, especially as Spurs may be in a rather precarious position if the Italian is ever missing.
