F1 News: Lewis Hamilton issues stern warning to F1 competitors
Lewis Hamilton has issued a stern warning to his Formula 1 competitors following a notable performance boost in his Mercedes W15 car, which led to his victory at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone last weekend.
This win marks Hamilton’s first since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021, ending a long drought for the seven-time world champion. The weekend was a strong showing for Mercedes, with George Russell starting from pole position and Hamilton securing his ninth win at his home race, setting a new record.
Since the start of Formula 1’s current ground effect era in 2022, Mercedes has struggled to keep up with Red Bull’s dominance. However, recent improvements have shown promise. Team principal Toto Wolff highlighted a key moment when the data began to align, leading to wins in Austria and Silverstone.
Hamilton acknowledges that while the W15 isn’t the fastest car on the grid yet, the recent upgrades have brought them closer to the front. He hinted that upcoming enhancements in Belgium and Hungary could further improve their performance, allowing them to compete more consistently at the top.
“There’s still a long, long way to go, but the car, by no means, is the car the quickest car on the grid right now,” Hamilton said.
“I think we are super close, and I think hopefully with a couple of, with the next upgrade perhaps, we will be in an even stronger position to really, really be fighting at the front row more consistently.”
Currently, Hamilton sits in 8th place in the Drivers’ Standings with 110 points, trailing championship leader Max Verstappen by 145 points. With twelve races remaining in the season, the competition at the front of the F1 grid is heating up, and Mercedes is poised to make significant stride
