Baggies supporter Mark Townsend, 57, sadly passed away last Saturday
The grieving brother of a West Brom fan who tragically died following a medical emergency at a football match has fondly remembered his sibling’s ‘zest for life’. A fundraiser has been set up in memory of Mark Townsend who sadly passed away last weekend.
The 57-year-old – a Birmingham Road End season-ticket holder – had been watching his beloved Baggies from the away stand at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship when the tragedy unfolded on Saturday, September 28. CPR was started by an off-duty paramedic, who among the Albion supporters, but it has since been reported that it allegedly took a number of minutes for medics on duty to respond to the incident. Football fan groups have since gathered evidence about the alleged delay to pass onto the Football League.
