NFL Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed joined ESPN’s ManningCast, which is hosted by Peyton and Eli Manning, on Monday night during the Baltimore Ravens’ win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he broke out a cigar while referencing the Tennessee Vols’ recent 24-17 win against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
“I’m enjoying the cigar weekend game,” said Reed. “I mean, Tennessee beat Alabama. I love that cigar game. My brother Aubrayo Franklin, d-lineman, was there.”
(Franklin played at Tennessee in the early 2000s before spending a decade in the NFL. He played with Reed and the Ravens from 2003 to 2006.)
I have a feeling that Reed, a cigar aficionado, probably would’ve been lighting a cigar on the ManningCast even if Tennessee wouldn’t have beat Alabama. But hey, I’m sure Vols fans appreciate the shoutout.
Reed, by the way, never played against Tennessee while in college, but he played against Peyton Manning quite a few times in the NFL, including a memorable playoff game in 2009 when he picked off Manning and then got “tackled” by the Sheriff.
