The Basketball Tournament gave Kentucky basketball fans something to root for during the summer, and to watch some former Wildcats on the court once again.

La Familia played very well as a team, making it all the way to the semifinals of TBT. They lost to the Ohio State alumni team, Carmen’s Crew, but overall, it was a successful venture, and many of the former Cats played very well, reminding fans how great they were.

Willie Cauley-Stein had a fantastic tournament, and was named as the Defensive Player of the Year. His 14 blocks led all players, and he added 5 steals as well. In addition, he was terrific on the boards, averaging 6.6 rebounds per game.

Cauley-Stein was a fan favorite at Kentucky, and remains a popular former Wildcat. He was named Defensive Player of the Year in the SEC in his final season, and spent seven years in the NBA, where he averaged six rebounds and a block per game.

Congrats to Cauley-Stein for the honor, and best wishes on whatever he chooses to do next.
