Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson’s legacy at the University of South Carolina reached new heights, as her No. 22 jersey was officially retired at Colonial Life Arena on Sunday.
The three-time WNBA MVP shared her emotions on Instagram after the ceremony with a simple but powerful six-word message.
“It’s truly up and it’s stuck!” Wilson wrote.
Wilson, who led South Carolina to its first NCAA championship in 2017, was honored in front of thousands of fans, former teammates and current South Carolina Gamecocks players.
The moment was extra special, as she stood beneath the rafters, where a banner bearing her name and jersey number now hangs permanently next to the 2017 national championship banner.
Fans and WNBA players flooded Wilson’s post with congratulatory messages.
“Congrats A!!! so deserving!!” Chicago Sky star Angel Reese commented.
“GOAT,” Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink simply wrote.
