Alasdair Gold pours cold water on Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Federico Chiesa
Writing in his column on Football. London, Alasdair Gold, the Tottenham Hotspur correspondent has played down Italy links surrounding a potential move for Federico Chiesa to North London this summer.
Over the past few days, several reports as mentioned by Gold have claimed that Chiesa is closing in on a move to the N17. However, according to the reliable journalist, the club have laughed off such talk.
The Juventus winger is not a primary transfer target for Spurs this summer and would be considered only as a market opportunity later in the window. Currently, signing the 26-year-old who once caught Italian legend Gigi Buffon by surprise is not a realistic option. Here is what the Italian shot-stopper had to say about Chiesa
“When he arrived at Juve I didn’t think he was so good. I am honest. In the European Championship he was unbelievable, in the final match with England, it was impossible to stop him. After a season at Juve with Federico it is no longer a surprise for me, but it was not obvious that he would be able to play at such a high level in a tournament like the European Championship. If you do those things at such a high level, then it means that you are really special.”
