Blue Jays Could Trade $427 Million Vladimir Guerrero Jr. To Rival In Shocking Move

Posted on December 31, 2024 by admin

Coming into the offseason, it seemed as though the Toronto Blue Jays were going to be all-in to win in 2025. They reportedly had Juan Soto and Corbin Burnes on their mind, but ultimately the Blue Jays fell short of all of their top targets.

In the middle of this hectic offseason, Soto’s $765 million contract likely caused Blue Jays’ first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s price to rise quite a bit. Guerrero is projected to sign for over $400 million next offseason, per Spotrac, but his price could end up even higher than that.

With that in mind, the Blue Jays may look to trade him rather than holding onto him and risking losing him in free agency for nothing.

The Boston Red Sox have a loaded farm system and they could send a huge package to Toronto that may cause the Blue Jays to consider a trade for Guerrero.

Here’s a massive deal that could send Guerrero to the Red Sox in a shocking offseason trade:

Trading Guerrero is a huge risk because he’s a generational talent. But this offer from the Red Sox includes three top-ten prospects and a very talented 24-year-old first baseman to replace Guerrero.

For the Red Sox, they can afford to lose all these players. Guerrero replaces Casas and the prospects can be replaced because of the shear depth of Boston’s system.

For the Blue Jays, it’s an intriguing idea to consider. While they may not be receiving a talent quite like Guerrero, it’s better than losing him in free agency next winter. The Blue Jays lost the Soto and Shohei Ohtani bidding wars the last two winters, so what makes them think they could win the Guerrero sweepstakes in 2026?
