Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are not in a good place with one another right now and it is getting pretty bad on all fronts right now.
Swayman doesn’t want to sign the deal that was presented to him, and the Bruins are putting a lot of pressure on Swayman on their end. It has been pretty brutal to watch play out, and the fans are starting to get nervous about whether or not Swayman will end up being traded or not.
Now, it seems like that nervousness is starting to transition into actual contempt for their goaltender. In a recent preseason game, one Bruins fan showed up with a disrespectful sign pointed towards Swayman. As you can see, it says ‘Take 64 or go.’
Of course, this is a reference to the fact that Swayman was allegedly offered a contract of eight years at $8 million AAV. However, as many already know, Swayman has been refusing this number, which has angered a lot of people. Now, it feels like it is likelier that Swayman is just traded altogether.
This is all very nerve-wracking for the Bruins organization, who might be without a real starter come playoff time. For now, it really feels like the Bruins are in the worst situation possible. Only time will tell whether or not they can somehow find a way to get back on track and get their goalie signed.
