Jonathan Lekkerimaki may have suffered a serious injury in a game on Saturday night while playing for the Abbotsford Canucks.
The winger crashed headfirst into the end boards midway through the third period of a game in Tucson against the Roadrunners.
With his team up 6-2, Lekkerimaki was backchecking but lost an edge and crashed. If his head didn’t take the brunt of the collision with the boards, it was his right shoulder.
On video he was writhing in pain while lying on the ice.
Play stopped immediately and his teammates rushed to his side.
