As that old saying goes, there is never smoke without fire, and in this instance, it looks like Chelsea are absolutely looking at new goalkeepers.
The club seem to keep pushing to the media and via Enzo Maresca that they don’t want a new goalkeeper and that Robert Sanchez is the number one that they believe in. But in reality, it looks like this is likely going to be just a way of protecting their stopper as it’s a crucial position on the pitch and they will need his confidence to be as high as possible rather than hearing any talk about replacing him.
Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany which stated Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is on Chelsea’s radar.
Bild have now provided more on Chelsea’s interest in the 27-year-old stopper, who they clearly like and are looking at.
The German outlet claim the Blues are looking at the Switzerland international because their hireachy believe he has ‘what it takes to become the best goalkeeper in the world’.
If Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, the report states Chelsea’s chances of securing Kobel’s services would ‘increase enormously’ next summer.
