The Dallas Mavericks organization has been working through their decision to trade away Luka Doncic.
Last month the Dallas Mavericks held a special meeting to address staff concerns after the fallout from the Luka Doncic trade left fans furious.
And while the trade has the potential to be disastrous long-term if it does not work out short-term, the next two to three seasons cannot be judged yet.
What we have witnessed so far certainly cannot be judged, because new addition Anthony Davis has been out with an injury sustained on his debut.
And there could be another chess piece move to come from the Dallas Mavericks, in the summer.

On Kevin Durant to Dallas Mavericks
The possibility of another big swing from the Dallas Mavericks could turn everything around, claims former NBA star Jeff Teague.
Speaking on his Club 520 podcast, Teague believes that ridiculed Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison could get back in favor with a trade for Kevin Durant.
Instead of chants of ‘Nico out’, Harrison could be getting positive chants from Mavs fans next season if he pulls it off, Teague claims.
He commented: “They will be talking about him different. If he get Kyrie, AD, and KD on same team, what are we talking about, yeah I traded Luka for that. Yeah.
“Nobody mad, Dallas is back up, Nico, Nico, Nico.”
Dallas Mavericks have Kevin Durant interest
There was speculation the Dallas Mavericks were keen on a move for Kevin Durant at the trade deadline when he was made available by the Phoenix Suns.
Durant killed off any moves by making clear he did not wish to be traded mis-season. He is expected to be moved on this summer
Kyrie Irving played alongside Kevin Durant with the Brooklyn Nets, but injuries denied them, along with James Harden, the chance to really discover whether it would have worked.
Dallas’ appetite for a move will depend on how this season plays out when everybody is healthy. If they fail to win the championship this season, more roster moves are expected, big or small.
Whether a trade for Durant would actually soothe the loss of Luka Doncic is open to interpretation – but it would be an exciting move.
Teague did added, if the proposed dream team was to match up against Boston, “I’m still taking the Celtics” – but it sure would be interesting to find out.
