Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert has a questionable status for Week 14 but is expected to miss Sunday’s game, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Mostert is dealing with a hip injury.
Mostert has had a trying 2024 campaign as he’s dropped on the depth chart by second-year running back De’Von Achane and rookie Jaylen Wright. Just a season ago, Mostert set the franchise record for touchdowns.
Moster’s decline in his performance can also be attributed to multiple injuries. Earlier this season Mostert dealt with a chest injury.
“He’s had a couple things pop up that it wouldn’t be fair to his body to over-press him,” head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Friday. “I think it’s important to me that with a very talented backfield that everyone gets opportunities; sometimes they come in waves.”
Mostert was a limited participant in practice for three consecutive days this week, but there is no indication he should be out longer than Week 14. Achane will likely handle the backfield responsibilities and has been Miami’s top option for some time.
Wright didn’t get any reps against the Green Bay Packers last week, but it’s expected that he will see some action Sunday.
The Dolphins will face off with the New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. The rivalry matchup marks the first time the Dolphins will see quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a Jet since he was traded to New York.
Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver heaped high praise for the veteran signal-caller.
“Future Hall of Famer. He’s a stud,” Weaver said via the team transcript. “He’s one of the few guys left in the league that I played with; him and Calais (Campbell), maybe Marcedes Lewis. He has all the arm talent in the world. He’s a lot like (Matthew) Stafford, there isn’t anything he hasn’t seen. If you’re not great with your pre-snap and disguise, he’s going to figure it out.”
