Dom Smith appears to be making a possible return to New York.
According to Jack Curry of the YES Network, the Yankees are signing Smith to a minor-league contract. Smith, 29, can play first base or the outfield.
Playing with the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds last season, Smith posted a .233 batting average and .313 on-base percentage to go with six home runs and 34 RBIs.
