Etzebeth, who started on the bench, came on for his 124th Test in the green and gold shortly before the 20th minute mark after Salmaan Moerat was forced to undergo an HIA test.

Etzebeth also inched closer to fellow lock Victor Matfield whose 127 Tests for South Africa is the current record.

EBEN ETZEBETH HAS TIME ON HIS SIDE

With the Springboks set to play eight more Tests in 2024, assuming he stays injury-free, Etzebeth will assume the mantle of most-capped Springbok before the year is out.

Etzebeth also has time on his side considering he will only turn 33 in late October.
