Encouraging update on Kentucky’s pursuit of Braylon Mullins

Last weekend, Braylon Mullins went to the Indiana State Fair to play outdoor basketball. During that game, he was named the Most Valuable Player. It came the same weekend that the Kentucky Wildcats got their first 2025 commitment in 4-star center Malachi Moreno.

Could Mullins be the next recruit to pick the Cats?

Mullins, who is ranked as high as 23rd overall in the 2025 class at 247 Sports, recently finished his visit to UConn. He will also visit Michigan, UNC, Indiana, Duke, Tennessee, and Kentucky over the next few months. His last visit is set to start on October 26th with Kentucky.

Mark Pope received his first commitment for the class of 2025 from Moreno, an in-state standout from nearby Great Crossing. Why could that impact this recruitment?

It’s due to Mullins and Moreno being AAU teammates.

“We did have that in mind,” Moreno told Zack Geoghegan of On3 on playing with Mullins in college. “I knew he was going to be great after — I mean, he blew up the last three summers, I just knew he was going to be great. Once we had similar offers I was like, ‘Yo, we actually have an opportunity to be college teammates. … I’m gonna make sure he puts this (Kentucky shirt) on.”
