Everton should break the bank to sign £60k-a-week Man United player after fresh update

Posted on August 15, 2024 by admin

Everton may have been supremely busy in the transfer window this summer, by comparison to previous years, but that does not mean they are finished just yet.

In fact, there remain a few key deficiencies within Sean Dyche’s side which Kevin Thelwell quite clearly still wants to plug.

The need for a potential replacement striker hinges solely on the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whilst their efforts to sign an Amadou Onana replacement has materialised in the form of Everton’s links to sign Kalvin Phillips.

And yet, despite all this, no right-back seems to be considered despite their options being far from ideal at this juncture, and all talk on the winger front has gone quiet.

Instead, the priority seems to remain on bolstering an already-strengthened attack, which should excite Evertonians.

Everton want to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United

And, admittedly, this is a plan that makes sense.

Especially when combing back through the previous campaign, which saw them ship just 51 goals in the Premier League, the fourth-least, whilst only scoring 40 goals from an expected goals of 60.75.

It is clear that their offence remains the key weakness, regardless of the fact that Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom have now been added, and so Dyche has gone in search of more firepower.
Seeking to tick this box whilst adding the final piece to his midfield, Everton have identified Scott McTominay as a new target before the window is up.

Having enquired about the £60k-a-week star, it seems unlikely that a deal will be struck before the window slams shut.

But, in all honesty, they must break the bank to complete this switch…

Scott McTominay is a perfect Sean Dyche player

Tall, fast, physical and brave, yet boasting plenty of quality and the ability to score crucial goals. McTominay is arguably the perfect Dyche footballer.

Throughout his tenure with both Burnley and Everton, already a pattern has emerged regarding his recruitment and the type of players he favours.

At Turf Moor, his focus on tall, physical units with a touch of class was paramount, and the type of player who thrived was often in the Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes mould.

So, when he moved to Merseyside, Dyche quickly picked out Abdoulaye Doucoure as his most important asset, and hung his hopes on the midfielder.

With good reason too, as his goalscoring has been a hugely important facet in Everton’s retained Premier League status.

McTominay stands at 6 foot 4, but is a tireless runner in the midfield, willing to play wherever he is needed for the betterment of the team. And, last season saw him score seven in the league, adding to the nine goals he has notched for Scotland too.

This kind of devotion, and talent that the Toffees do not yet boast, would surely revolutionise their first team. They must break the bank to complete this deal.
