Everton fans are hoping the club will have a busy week in the transfer window – and one reported target may have just sent a message to David Moyes.
Everton secured another big win in the Premier League on Saturday, beating Brighton 1-0 at the Amex Stadium.
An Iliman Ndiaye penalty was the difference as Everton turned in another really good defensive display.
David Moyes has had a great start, but he knows he needs a big week now in the transfer market.
Everton could be set to make two signings before the deadline, and it’s also been suggested that Moyes could have around £40 million to spend.
One player who’s been on Everton’s radar is Ernest Nuamah – and the winger may well have sent a message to Moyes with his performance for Lyon earlier today.
Ernest Nuamah makes strong case for Everton transfer with goal and lively display for Lyon against Nantes
There’s been a lot of talk about Everton signing a new forward this month.
Under Sean Dyche, Everton had major problems in the final third and there was very little output from the attacking players.
Obviously, Moyes has now replaced Dyche and there has been an improvement in the final third. But the feeling is that Everton still need some additional firepower.
Nuamah might be a player Moyes pushes Everton to sign after his latest exploits for Lyon.
He was in action earlier today and put in a very lively performance against Nantes.
Nuamah was the highest-rated player for Lyon on Sofascore, and he was the man to score their goal in the 1-1 draw. It was very nearly the winner, only for Mostafa Mohamed to equalise right at the death for Nantes.
Nuamah – who Jake O’Brien thinks is ‘an exciting player’ – was a threat though, having three shots and making two ‘key’ passes. He also created one ‘big’ chance. He rarely gave the ball away on the day, completing 36/40 (90%) passes in total.
He took his goal well, finding a gap to the far corner after a cutback by Nicolas Tagliafico from the left side.
It was also a fairly industrious display from the 21-year-old, who contested nine duels – only three players contested more in the game.
French outlet Maxi Foot noted that Nuamah ‘stood out’ in the game.
Ernest Nuamah to Everton transfer latest
It was claimed recently that Everton were confident of signing Nuamah from Lyon this January.
Then it was suggested that Everton were continuing to touch base over Nuamah.
But there was a blow on Friday when it was reported that Nuamah is now ‘likely’ to stay at Lyon over joining Everton.
But as we all know, anything can happen in the transfer market and there have already been lots of varying reports about Nuamah and Everton so far this month.
Everton need attacking reinforcements in the coming days.
Especially with it looking like Dwight McNeil may require surgery for his injury.
