It’s been reported for well over a month now that Kevin Durant’s time with the Suns is quickly coming to a end. The franchise is expected to move on from the future Hall of Famer this summer as they begin to either completely rebuild or just retool this roster.
The question is: Where will he go and what can the Suns get for him?
Right now there is a lot of speculation on what teams might be interested in the forward that turns 37 years old next season. It would need to be a team that feels like they are in title contention and the acquisition of KD would help get them over a top. It would also need to be a team that has the salary cap space to add him. Not to mention they would need to have the appropriate assets to send back in the trade to make it make sense for Phoenix.
That’s not a very long list.
SBNation gave their top-5 teams that make the most sense in who would want to add Durant. In order, they claim the Mavericks, Rockets, Heat, Pistons and the Thunder.
Each team has multiple first round picks they could trade. Some of the teams have expiring contracts that would help free up cap space for the Suns. Others have nice young pieces that they may be willing to part ways with.
The Suns return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Clippers.
