Florida Panthers Send Three Players to Charlotte Checkers

The Florida Panthers announced they have sent forwards Ryan McAllister, Oliver Okuliar, and Wilmer Skoog to their AHL affiliate Charlotte Checkers.

McAllister recorded 19 points in 39 games for the Checkers in his first full professional season in 2023-24. He originally joined the Checkers for a seven game stretch in 2022-23 after wrapping up his lone NCAA season at Western Michigan University.

The London, ON, native looks to take on more offensive responsibility this season.

Okuliar notched 45 points in 52 games with Mountfield HK in Czechia last season. This will be his first professional season in North America, he spent one season in the QMJHL and one in the WHL before returning to Europe to play professionally in Finland, Slovakia and Czechia.

With good size, international experience, and over 200 professional games under his belt it will be interesting to see how Okuliar adjusts to the AHL.

Skoog split time between the ECHL’s Florida Everblades and the Checkers last season, showing great goal scoring ability. He scored 22 goals and added nine assists in 49 AHL games.

After the success Skoog had in his first professional season he should receive more opportunity in 2024-25.

The Checkers open the season Oct. 12 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
