A lot of college football experts are claiming that this past season was Kirby Smart’s best coaching job of his career. And it’s hard to argue against that after the gauntlet of a schedule Georgia football faced and all the struggles and injuries the team endured that are out of Smart’s control. But at the end of the day, he still led Georgia to an SEC Championshop and appearance in the College Football Playoff.
Even after this last season however, Georgia fans are very nervous heading into 2025. A lot of it has to do with Georgia breaking in a new quarterback and facing an equally difficult schedule once again, But Georgia fans have a lot less confidence than they typically do.
But Smart’s former players at Georgia have not lost confidence in their former coach. In fact, many of the former Bulldogs who made it to this year’s Super Bowl spoke during media day about why Georgia fans should have all the trust in the world in Smart.
“My message to DawgNation is rally around Kirby Smart, support him,” Philadelphia safety Lewis Cine said via dawgnation.com. “Be there for him because he’s going to pull through for all of us.”
“Having a guy like that, you can never lack in any situation or any adversity that you go through, just trust your preparation and just knowing your standard is demanded in anything you do,” Eagles defensive back Kelee Ringo said.
Kirby Smart has earned everyone’s trust
There will always be a lot of reasons why fans will be nervous in the offseason for the next season. And a lot of those reasons are valid, especially if you have an unproven coach on the sideline.
But Smart is the opposite of unproven. He’s won muiltiple National Championships and three SEC Championships in arguably the most difficult conference in the country. So if Smart has proven time and time again that he can reach the height of the sport with everything stacked against him, then nothing should ever concern Georgia fans too much.
So hopefully UGA fans will be able to rest easy throughout the offseason, because these two players know Smart extremely well and it what it takes to win in college football. So if they say no one should be worried heading into next season, then it’d be wise to not worry.
