One centre-forward who has been linked with a move to Chelsea is Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
However, with the price tag that Newcastle United have slapped on Alexander Isak, it does not look like he will be moving to Stamford Bridge any time soon.
Considering that, here are three strikers that Chelsea should now put all of their focus on heading into 2025.
Liam Delap
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle want in excess of £150m for Isak, making a move to Chelsea very unlikely. But there are other Premier League centre-forwards worth considering if you are the Blues.
Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap has caught the eye this season and has actually been linked with a switch to west London.
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Chelsea are in talks with Ipswich about signing Delap. The Englishman has scored six goals in 17 Premier League appearances, which is not bad for a forward playing in a newly-promoted side, and still has so much room to grow at 21.
Delap has the build of a typical Premier League centre-forward and should not cost too much either, especially if Ipswich go on to get relegated this term.
Jhon Duran
If Chelsea want to sign a striker who has some Premier League experience, then Jhon Duran could be another good option for him.
The 21-year-old has impressed for Aston Villa this season, even managing to oust Ollie Watkins out of the team in recent weeks.
Duran has scored some big goals, including in the Champions League. For example, it was the Colombian who netted the winner in the Villans’ 1-0 win against Bayern Munich.
Chelsea wanted to sign Duran in the last transfer window but could not get a deal over the line. It will now be interesting to see if they go back in for him in the new year. Based on how he has performed in the current campaign, they should at least consider it.
Benjamin Sesko
Benjamin Sesko represents an option from outside of the Premier League, but the Slovenian is another young striker with a lot of potential.
Last season, he went on an incredible goalscoring run in the Bundesliga, netting seven consecutive goals in RB Leipzig’s final seven games of the campaign.
He finished with 14 goals in 31 league outings in total, which is not a bad return. It has been claimed that Leipzig could be willing to sell Sesko for £50m, which is significantly less than what Isak is going to cost and a fee that a club such as Chelsea can easily afford.
