Kentucky vs. Louisville tabbed second-best rivalry in college basketball

With the 2024-25 college basketball season only a few months away, Andy Katz has ranked his top 10 rivalries for this upcoming year.

Katz believes these rivalries go beyond the court with lots of school culture, tradition, and pride involved.

He ranked the Kentucky Wildcats vs. Louisville Cardinals rivalry at No. 2 this upcoming season. The two programs always bring excitement when they meet. Since the last time they met, both teams have also brought in new coaches and a brand-new roster, adding more intrigue to this year’s matchup.

The last time Kentucky played against Louisville, the Cats won 95-76 at KFC Yum! Center. Kentucky currently leads the series 39-17 against the Cards.

Coming in first was North Carolina vs. Duke. One reason is that they play in the same conference as each other, and they always seem electric. The two have played against each other 261 times.
