It’s football time in the bluegrass, and today, Mark Stoops met with media members to preview the Kentucky Wildcats’ first game against Southern Mississippi. The season’s first game will take place this Saturday at Kroger Field at 7:45 pm ET and will be televised on SEC Network.
Today, Mark Stoops said, “We talk all offseason, but being in here today makes you realize that the season is here.”
Stoops also talked about the transition of offensive coordinators for the fifth straight season and the new technology being released that allows the quarterback to talk to the coaches.
Stoops also added things that should make the fans even more excited about this Saturday. He stated that fans might see a lot of “or” on the depth chart when it comes to the secondary, but it’s simply because they trust a lot of players in that position group. He also stated that fans shouldn’t be worried about the defensive line depth, despite multiple injuries. Stoops also talked about the experience and skill in the wide receiver room.
The head coach said he feels the fans’ excitement and is ready to deliver for them.
“Now we just have to win,” he said.
Stoops also added that Courtland Ford will not be available for the foreseeable future. Ford was competing for the starting right tackle spot, which ultimately went to Tennessee transfer Gerald Mincey.
As we all sit and countdown the days to Saturday, Mark Stoops got us even more excited for the season’s start today at the presser. The Cats are trying to win their ninth straight season opener. So, as excitement builds, you can check out everything Mark said at today’s presser.
