Singleton is a four-year MLB veteran. The 33-year-old began his career in 2014 for the Houston Astros but was demoted to the minors after his second season.

After stints with Double and Triple-A affiliates, as well as in the Mexican League between 2016-23, Singleton returned to the Majors for the Milwaukee Brewers and Astros in that latter season.

Last season, the California native played a career-high 119 games for Houston. Singleton slashed .234/.321/.386 with a .707 OPS. He added 13 home runs along with 42 RBIs.

The lefty slugger could help the Mets drive in runs should he get a call-up to the big leagues at some point in 2025. Singleton will have ample opportunities in Triple-A for the Syracuse Mets to strengthen his case for a call-up.

Mets Sign Former Angels Pitcher on Thursday..

Despite their .500 record to begin the season, the New York Mets’ bullpen has been a big strength. Entering Thursday, the Mets bullpen has a cumulative 1.64 ERA, which is the second-best in all of MLB. This is a great sign after Mets relievers struggled at times last season before finishing with a 3.93 ERA that ranked in the middle of the pack. Led by All-Star closer Edwin Diaz, the Mets expect their bullpen to close the door in many high-stakes games this season. On Thursday, they added another potential contributor who is coming off the best season of his career. He had a career year in 2024, reaching career-highs in innings, games, and bWAR. He also managed his lowest single-season ERA, WHIP, and HR/9 last season. Marte’s arsenal features a slider, a sinker, a four-seam fastball, and a changeup. He features good velocity on his sinker and four seamer, with both pitches averaging 96 MPH. In his career, Marte has struggled with walking batters, with a 7.8 BB/9 rate. But if he can gain more control over the strike zone, he will compete to be another arm out of the Mets’ bullpen this season.
