Newcastle interest in Oscar Bobb revealed as Manchester City wonderkid suffers injury

Posted on August 15, 2024 by admin

HITC understands that Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb has attracted interest from Newcastle United but the Norwegian has now suffered an injury.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have only made one key first-team signing this summer with City signing Girona’s Savio last month with the Brazilian featuring against Manchester United in the community shield.

We had reported that City were set to confirm a new deal for Oscar Bobb earlier this year and it had looked as if the Norwegian ace would have a breakthrough campaign.

However, sources have told HITC that the Norwegian attacker is now set to miss three months of the Premier League season.

Oscar Bobb was attracting attention from Newcastle United

Interestingly, prior to Bobb’s injury that he suffered for City, sources have told HITC that the attacker was attracting interest from another Premier League side.

HITC understands that Newcastle United were keen on Bobb this summer and hoped to bring him to St James’ Park with the club keen on signing a winger.

Newcastle were interested in Pedro Neto but the Portuguese winger completed his move to Chelsea last week.

Sources have told HITC that these conversations between Newcastle and City did not go too far with the Premier League champions understood to have little interest in allowing the Norwegian to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.

City clearly believe that Bobb will have a great future behind him but this injury will be a blow to these chances of the Norwegian having a breakthrough campaign under Guardiola.

Bobb was discussed as possible Bruno Guimaraes bid

HITC has previously reported that City were keen on Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes with the Citizens previously being interested in West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta but due to the Brazilian’s alleged breach of betting rules.

Sources have told HITC that Bobb’s name came up with the Norwegian linked to a possible bid from the Premier League champions for the Brazilian midfielder.

Newcastle were originally concerned that Guimaraes’ release clause would be met but the time has now elapsed for that clause, understood to be £100 million, to be activated.

Despite this, Bobb will stay at City and recuperate before being given a chance for the Premier League champions to prove himself.
