Ohio State walk-on defensive end Caden Davis is no longer on the team, a school spokesperson confirmed.
The Lantern, Ohio State’s student media, reported Wednesday that Davis had been dismissed for reasons that were unspecified.
Davis had not appeared in a game with the Buckeyes since he joined them as a preferred walk-on in 2022, but had amassed a large following across a variety of platforms on social media.
He often shared behind-the-scenes reels of team activities and travel to nearly 400,000 combined followers on Instagram and TikTok.
A native of Mason, he did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment. In a post on Instagram on Wednesday, Davis cited personal reasons for his departure.
“I am so very appreciative to the coaches, staff, and players for welcoming me into the team,” he wrote. “I truly cannot thank them enough for allowing me to live my dream for the last 2 years and mentoring me the way they have.
“With changes in the NCAA and personal career reasons I will not be a PWO at the OSU. I appreciate the support of everyone and your help to respect my privacy about the decision made.”
