Olympics 2024 LIVE!

The 2024 Paris Olympics continue into day four as Team GB look to build on a sensational Monday in which they won six medals. Alex Yee, who won silver in Tokyo three years ago, was due up early in the men’s triathlon, but the event has been dominated by controversy due to pollution levels in the River Seine and has been postponed until Wednesday.

Coco Gauff was a flag bearer for Team USA at the opening ceremony but her singles campaign is over at Roland Garros, after she was beaten in straight sets following a lengthy argument with the umpire. Britain’s Jack Draper also fell to a defeat. Later on in the day, Andy Murray and Dan Evans are in tennis doubles action as they look to reach the quarter-finals. Murray, set for retirement as soon as this tournament is over, staged an incredible comeback with Evans earlier this week to keep his career alive.

Elsewhere on another busy day, Simone Biles and her USA teammates are looking for redemption in the women’s team gymnastics final. Tom Dean, James Guy, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott are also in relay action, while Anna Hopkin safely progressed into the women’s 100m freestyle semi-finals. Men’s trap final

Miss from Hales! Well then. After 32 shots, Hales and Qi have made 30 each.

It’s one battle for gold, and another to stay in this competition and take bronze.

Qi misses… and Hales makes! He’s back in charge after 34 shots. And Qi with another miss, followed immediately by Hales making no mistake. He’s two ahead.

Levin-Andersson has been knocked out, he finishes fourth.

Men’s trap final

On we go.

Qi Ying at the moment is the big threat to Nathan Hales. The Chinese athlete is on 26/28, Hales one better than that.

They are both already safely through to the next stage. After 30 shots, it’s Qi 28, Hales 29. Rickard Levin-Andersson of Sweden on 27.

Derrick Mein of the USA has been eliminated. Four left in the hunt.

Men’s trap final

That’s the 25 shots done. Nathan Hales lead the way, 24/25 for him.

James Willett of Australia is the one who will not progress. He made 19 of his shots and it’s not enough.

And then there were five…

Men’s trap final

Team GB’s Nathan Hales has made a strong start in this final, looking good for the world record holder.

There are six athletes in this final. Once they have all taken 25 shots, the one with the fewest shots made will be eliminated.

That will then happen after every five shots, until there are two athletes left.

Those two will then shoot at another ten targets. Got it? Good.

Tennis

Jack Draper wasn’t a happy bunny after his loss to Taylor Fritz.

He didn’t use it as an excuse for the defeat but complained the only water he was being offered was hot during the match.

Seems a fairly basic thing to get right from organisers.

Tennis

Those waiting for Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, and after them Andy Murray and Dan Evans, face a bit of a wait.

Jasmine Paolini lost the first set of her match against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, but the Italian is now a break up in the second. Looks like they could be going the distance.

BMX freestyle

Charlotte Worthington out, she will not defend her title.

But hope is not completely lost for Team GB, who now have world champion Kieran Reilly in the men’s qualification.

He’s up shortly, looking to book his place in the final.

Rugby sevens

Bit of a shambles in the rugby sevens for Team GB.

They were ahead as the clock went red, and Isla Norman-Bell threw the ball out… but she had to kick it to end the match.

Meant play continued and China snatched a 19-15 win at the death.

GB will face Ireland later today to decide who finishes seventh.
