he Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly looking to shake up their roster following a lackluster postseason run in the 2024 postseason. One of the players they could move, for a haul in return, is third baseman Alec Bohm.
Bohm was an All-Star in 2024, so the Phillies would likely only move him for a star. A player like Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker comes to mind. But if they move Bohm, it would be after they acquire the adequate replacement to fill his spot at third base.
Thomas Gauvain of Redbird Rants recently pitched a trade that would give the Phillies the Bohm replacement they’re looking for: St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Arenado.
“The Phillies currently employ Alec Bohm, a 2024 All-Star, at third base, but they’re reportedly open to moving him to shake up the roster,” Gauvain wrote. “Arenado would join a talented veteran group that includes Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, JT Realmuto, Aaron Nola, and Zach Wheeler in Philly, and he wouldn’t have to be the primary offensive producer with the Phillies. That would bode well for his career.”
Both the Phillies and Cardinals would benefit from this trade, as long as Philadelphia has landed a star for Bohm. If the Phillies have a suitor in mind for Bohm, this trade is an ideal move to push the team forward.
For the Cardinals, they get off most of Arenado’s contract while bringing in two of the Phillies’ top 15 prospects. Both pitching prospects would come to St. Louis as great additions to a decent farm system.
