‘Pretty keen to go around again’: Adam Reynolds hints at Broncos future amid ‘tough’ pre-season

Posted on February 12, 2025 by admin

Adam Reynolds has revealed he is “pretty keen” to continue his NRL career beyond this season, but admits there is no guarantees the Broncos will want to keep him.

The veteran halfback, who will lead Brisbane again this year, battled through injury last season, restricting him to just 13 appearances as the side missed the finals.

Reynolds has had an undeniable impact since arriving at Red Hill, but has thus far been unable to end the club’s premiership drought, falling agonisingly short in 2023.

While many smart judges believe the Broncos could bounce back and compete for the title to give the 34-year-old a fairytale ending, he might have more than once chance.

Speaking to 9News Sydney, Reynolds was quizzed on his desire to prolong his career and at this stage, all signs point towards a contract extension.

“At the moment, I’m pretty keen to go around again,” he said.

“Obviously time will tell – you’ve got to be wanted firstly and playing good football and doing your job at the highest quality.

“If I’m doing all those things right and the body is feeling good, I don’t see any reason to call it quits.”

Reynolds will likely bring up his 300-game milestone mid-way through this season, having previously spent the majority of his career with South Sydney.

The playmaker will reunite with Michael Maguire at the Broncos, completing a full-circle moment for the pair after their successful time together at Redfern.

Maguire will bring his usual hard-nosed approach to Brisbane and while many have raised concerns about players burning out, Reynolds isn’t buying into the noise.

“You laugh at it,” he said.

“Every team is doing a hard pre-season, it doesn’t mean every time is gonna burn out.

“You need a good tough, hard pre-season to set yourself up for success. Every team is out there to chase success and it’s those who are willing to go to different places.”

Brisbane will kick off their campaign against the Sydney Roosters on March 6
