It’s never over until it is in football, and Real Madrid’s pursuit of Alphonso Davies is the perfect example of the same.
Los Blancos had locked in on the Canadian international as their next left-back signing for the summer and everything appeared set to steal him on a free transfer given that his contract runs out in June.
In recent weeks, however, news of a possible renewal of the player with Bayern Munich has come to the fore and it is suddenly not so clear if he will join the Spanish side or not.
Option still open
As brought to light by Mario Cortegana in a recent update, Real Madrid had reached an agreement with Davies’ camp back in February over the terms the Canadian star would sign with Real Madrid.
At the time, it was not only the terms for the 2024 summer transfer window but also the 2025 transfer window that was discussed.
Despite the club not signing him last summer, there are thus concrete terms known to both parties that the player can sign for Real Madrid against.
The Spanish journalist thus conveys that Los Blancos can still make a move for Davies and that the saga is far from over despite Bayern Munich’s progress towards a renewal. All doors continue to be open.
The youngster has made 13 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians this season and is already on a goal and two assists to his name.
His final decision will depend on a plethora of reasons for the finances to the terms of his new contract, but Real Madrid will hope the passion to don the white shirt outweighs all other factors involved.
